Online Lessons

Online session are available to students that live outside the area I can visit or when it's not convenient to have tuition at home, home improvements taking place, illness, needing to self isolate, for example.
When governmental advice during the COVID-19 pandemic, is to work from home, all students were moved to online lessons. Home visits are now resumed for those happy to return to that. I have been fully vaccinated and had the booster.
What equipment and software are needed?
- Hardware: A computer, laptop, tablet, or even a just smart phone, (although a bigger screen would make learning far easier)
- Internet Access (WIFI/4G/3G)
- Software: preferably ZOOM, (free to download and use). WhatsApp video calling, Facetime and Skype possible too.
How does it work?
The student, or parent, is sent an invitation to join a meeting (one to one lesson) via email before the lesson time. At the time of the lesson accessing that link in the email will start the online lesson.
Along with video conferencing the student is able to see my screen in real time and add their own workings or share their screen. Physics students have benefited by having short videos streamed to them on the points discussed..
Homework can be sent via email after the lesson. This work is analysed in the first few minutes of the next lesson before moving on to new topics.
If you are local to me lessons can take the form of a
Home Visit .
